Fiano

Classic aromas of Fiano are: Lime, Lemon, Almonds, Honeycomb and White Florals

Fiano is an ancient white grape variety from Italy. It is from the south of Italy and predominated the western region of Campania. It was first mentioned in a registry in 1240 by Emperor Frederic II.

The best examples are produced in the appellation of Fiano di Avellon DOCG in Campania, though makes wines throughout the region.

It is also planted, very minorly, in Australia. The best example is from Coriole in McLaren Vale.

Fiano produces wines that are full bodied and have strong flavours. It has aromas of lime, green apple, almonds and white flowers. With age the wines will develop aromas of honey.
